Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural (SMSC) and Religious Education
As laid out by the new National Curriculum, schools are required to: promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of all pupils; teach religious education; and make provision for personal, social, health and economic education. At Lime Academy Watergall we believe that we play a vital role in supporting children to grow and develop as lifelong learners and good citizens of our communities.
At Watergall we use the Cambridgeshire scheme of work for PSHE. We also promote key elements of SMSC development across the curriculum and everyday throughout school life. We aim to: foster children’s growth, sense of self and unique potential; support children’s understanding, attitudes and skills related to moral development; promote children’s understanding of their responsibilities and rights as members of families and communities; and extend children’s understanding, respect, appreciation and contribution towards a range of cultures.
